This inspired piece by Mark Ravenhill brings together all its brutality, intelligence and irony in the title, that immediatetly submerges us in its world. In fact, there are two plitival plans that weave the piece: Shopping and Fucking is, on one hand, a check up to consumming society and, on the other, it reveals an extreme sensibility in what concerns the dynamics of relationships. Mark, a drug addict in rehabilitation, bought Robbie and Lulu at the super market, two people that come to live with him and help him with his treatment. He says he is looking for relationships that don´t mean anything, that are transactions, as he procclaims "no dependencies". They are characters that use money as anaesthesia, that turn consumption into a vaccine for desire, so that it becomes obvious that it is not working. Nevertheless, it is working... A play that engages us into considering globalization, violence and the body, issues thata are definitely establishes in contemporary societies and materialize in breaches on the cardboard setting and actors that throw up words.
