InShadow  - 1st International Video, Performance and Technologies Festival is a dynamic and engaging festival, which highlights the importance of interdisciplinarity in contemporary creation.

The Festival aims to raise awareness and to reflect the connection between the body and new technologies, by mixing the languages of  video / film and dance / performance associated to the work of film-makers, choreographers, transdisciplinary artists and perfomers. The Festival programme is composed by shows, performances, competitive sessions, special sessions, installations, workshops and masterclasses.

SHOWS AND PERFORMANCES
This year, InShadow invites the swiss-italian company AiEP - Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti, in the interantional premiere of the interactive dance and technology show .MOV.

CIM.integrated multidisciplinary company will present is latest work, the transdisciplinary performance Memória de Peixe, by António Cabrita, Catarina Gonçalves and Jorge Granadas.

COMPETITIVE SESSIONS
InShadow presents in competition more than 50 videos of various genres (video-dance, video-art, video-experimental and documentary), from countries such Singapure, Mozambique, USA, Spain, Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, Australia, Venezuela, Irlande, Palestine, Greece, Finland, France, Chile, Italy, Hungary, UK, Israel, Sweden, Belgium and Egypt.

The awards will be attributed by the official jury, the schools jury and the public. The official jury is composed by Cláudia Galhós (writer and journalist), Rui Simões (film director) and Francisco Camacho (choreographer). The schools jury is composed by students of various Lisbon schools. The public will also attribute an award.

SPECIAL SESSIONS
We highlight the series Videodanza América do Sul, curated by Silvina Szperling (Director of the Festival VideoDanzaBA – Argentina and founder of MERCOSUR). The programme has three parts:
 
1. MERCOSUR Videodanza Circuit
2. Selection of the VideoDanzaBA 2001 Festival
3. SZ Danza Retrospective

Simultaneously, we will present the films História, by Karsten Liske, in collaboration with Sasha Waltz & guests; Cacilheiros, by Pedro Sena Nunes, with the collboration of Ana Rita Barata. The two films present points of contact and distance over the various realities of the two margins of Tagus River.
 
We will also present the film Nora, by Alla Kovgan and David Hinton, co-produced by the E.U.A, England and Mozambique. Nora was filmed in South Africa and is based on the childhood memories of Nora Chipaumire, who was born in Zimbabwe in 1965. The film has already won a number of international awards in the video-dance and documentary category.

INSTALLATIONS
The installations Raft of Medusa by Lutz Gregor and Federicapaola Capecchi (Germany-Italy), Electric Self Anthology by Allesandro Amaducci (Italy), Mergulho by CIM. integrated multidisciplinary company and Pedro Sena Nunes (Portugal) and L´ombre des jeunes filles by Joana Gomes (Portugal), will be exhibited during the Festival in various alternative spaces in São Luiz Theatre.

WORKSHOPS AND MASTERCLASSES
The company AiEP comes to Portugal for the first time. In order to better understand their work, we invited Ariella Vidach and Claudio Prati (AiEP´s creative directors) to give the masterclass Interactive Dance: the body in movement in sensitive environments and a workshop on Interactive danceLAB | I-bodylab, open to anyone who wishes to attend.

The Festival also proposes a video-dance workshop by António Cabrita (choreographer and film director). This workshop is open to participants from the areas of video or dance with a specific knowledge of video, photography, video editing, image and photography manipulation. This is a four-day workshop (starts on 23 November), with a final presentation during the Festival.

This is the challenge. InShadow is a Festival that looks into the worlds of imagination for the exchange and profound confrontation between cultures, experiences, methods, visions, knowledge and affection, based on thinking/action and creativity/innovation. We aim to stimulate the renovation of encounter and dialogue, collectively and individually, among professionals, students and all those interested in artistic manifestations, promoting new viewing spaces and talents.
