Description

This production is an immersive journey, in the form of a scenic poem, through the work As Ilhas Desconhecidas. Five voices sail across the Atlantic Ocean towards the islands, which were then unknown to so many Portuguese people. We evoke Raúl Brandão’s sensibility through the reporter, the frightened man, the pragmatist, the melodramatic figure and the spiritual figure, allowing us to see the artist within his work. There will be five voices in five distinct bodies, five characters who at times throughout the narrative merge, recognising in the author’s gaze his profound humanity, in a tribute to the landscapes and peoples of the Azores and Madeira.
Alongside him, we are passengers on the steamship San Miguel, which set sail from Lisbon in 1924, a century ago.
