“How many shades does fado have!” Bocage’s famous phrase perfectly illustrates the idea behind this unique project, which brings together “the voice” of fado, Camané, and Ensemble Darcos, conducted by maestro and composer Nuno Côrte-Real. Two different worlds meet, converse and merge, giving rise to yet another shade of fado, between classical, contemporary and popular. Through unexpected sonorities, Camané will perform some of the most iconic fados from his repertoire such as Sei de um rio, Ela tinha uma amiga and Guerra das rosas, along with previously unreleased fados written for the singer by Miguel Amaral and Nuno Côrte-Real. All these fados will be interspersed with music by Chopin, itself often melancholic and, in many respects, echoing the spirit of fado, acting as a kind of spiritual mortar, offering multiple meanings to the power of voice and instruments.
