Cristina Clara will be presenting her new album for the first time live in the Bernardo Sassetti Hall at the São Luiz Theatre: a collection of stories told and sung, gathered over the last few years through travels, encounters, memories and songs.
Even before revealing all the names featured on this album, the artist promises a special evening, hinting at high-profile collaborations and a new chapter in her musical journey. Following Lua Adversa and the recent single Bonança, featuring António Zambujo, Cristina Clara further develops her own unique artistic language, where tradition is a starting point, but never a limit.
Fado, choro, morna, batuku, folk songs and popular rhythms from Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde emerge here not as rigid genres, but as experiences, influences and tools for storytelling. These are sounds that the artist listens to and incorporates into her work — different ways of expressing a sense of belonging, desire, distance, waiting, joy, loss and transformation.
In this concert, each song opens up a landscape. Some spring from original compositions, others from revisited traditional repertoires; all come to the stage with the spoken word at their heart and a desire to bring the singer and the listener closer together. Cristina Clara guides the audience through an intimate yet expansive universe, where voice, narrative and rhythm intertwine in a single breath.
Featuring musicians with links to jazz, popular music and Atlantic musical traditions, this launch of the new album will be more than just a debut concert: it will mark the beginning of a new artistic chapter, filled with stories both old and new, featuring guests yet to be revealed, and music that seeks to touch upon what connects us — even when we find ourselves on different shores.
