The 2024 edition of the international literary program DISQUIET, organized by the National Culture Center in partnership with the North American publisher Dzanc Books, takes place with the participation of more than a hundred North American writers. The sessions take place in various locations around the city, namely at the National Culture Center, at FLAD, at Casa Fernando Pessoa, at Fundação José Saramago, at Casa da Imprensa, in the Cloister of the São Roque Museum, at the Academy of Sciences, at Grémio Literário and at Teatro São Luiz.
DISQUIET – International Literary Program was launched by the independent publisher Dzanc Books, based in Michigan, United States of America, and by the National Culture Center and assumes that immersion in a foreign culture, in an environment different from the usual, and the consequent break of routines tend to stimulate creativity, opening up new perspectives and new angles of interpretation of the world around us, resulting in undoubted enrichment for all those who participate in it.
The National Culture Center has promoted this project since its beginning, in 2011, accepting in 2024, for the twelfth year, always in partnership with the independent publisher Dzanc Books, to organize the reception of another group of American writers in Lisbon.
The writers participate in a Summer University for two weeks, attending workshops and sessions with Portuguese-speaking authors.
