Rafael Riqueni, born in 1962, began his musical journey at the age of twelve, revealing a talent that led him to win the Ramón Montoya Prize at the 8th Córdoba Competition and the VI National Competition in Jerez, at the age of fourteen, and triumphing again on two occasions later. After a break of more than two decades, Riqueni returned to the stage at the Seville Flamenco Biennial in 2014. In 2020, the master received the Guitarra con Alma Award at the 34th Jerez Festival, with his masterful work Herencia, which was also nominated for a Latin Grammy. His legacy was crowned with the National Guitar Prize (2023) by the Jerez Chair of Flamencology, solidifying his place as one of the great icons of contemporary flamenco.
