The Jornadas Internacionais de Cenografia & Figurinos (International Conference on Set Design & Costume Design) has established itself as a forum for meeting, reflection and sharing, dedicated to the study and practice of set design and costume design in the performing arts. Bringing together researchers, creators, lecturers, students and artists from Portugal and abroad, this initiative promotes dialogue across different disciplines, exploring the multifaceted relationships between theatre, dance, cinema, opera, performance and visual studies.
This session will see the presentation of the proceedings from the First Conference, which bear witness to the richness of the debates and the research carried out at that time.
The event will also mark the official launch of the 2nd International Conference on Set Design & Costume Design, which will take place in November 2026, jointly organised by the Centre for Research and Studies in Fine Arts (CIEBA), the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (FBAUL) and the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute (ESTC/IPL).
This event aims to strengthen the exchange between academic research and contemporary artistic creation, establishing an international platform dedicated to critical thinking about the spaces, bodies and visualities of the stage.
