Description

Teatro São Luiz hosts the closing performance of LISBOA 5L – International Festival of Literature and Portuguese Language. Inspired by a city steeped in tradition and modernity, one of the most interesting musical projects today brings together Gaspar Varela on Portuguese guitar, Sebastião Varela on electric guitar and Rafael Matos on drums. They reinvent the Portuguese guitar, add other geographies to it and, without shame, create a soundtrack of a Lisbon with a view to the world. With special participation of Conan Osiris.

In its fourth edition, the international festival of literature and Portuguese language LISBOA 5L proposes the theme “Centro e Fugas” (center and fugues): this is a way of choosing the multicultural facet of life in Lisbon and framing it in a bundle of connections between the center and periphery of the city. The idea is to give priority to spaces, residents and cultural expressions that are manifested in the geographic margins of Lisbon, in a more faithful translation of the demographic reality to which we belong. It is on this threshold that collective expressions and particularly creative individual voices are emerging, which are gradually converting the city’s periphery into a space for the formation of new centres.
