Description

A century of musical composition
A century that intensely intertwines music with the body
A body that becomes increasingly musical
A social body
A political body
A body that synthesises the world
A body that breathes the world, with music ever-present, extending the body and soothing the world.
Composers with universal sound and presence.

In Louis Lui (2025), Companhia Paulo Ribeiro continues a choreographic trilogy, that began in 2024 with Maurice Accompagné, that spans a century of music, exploring the body as a sensitive, political, and poetic space. Drawing inspiration from the composers Louis Andriessen and Luís Tinoco, this creation explore the breath of time, its constraints and hopes. From the creative fervour of the 1920s, in Maurice Accompagné, to today’s complexity, with Louis Lui, music guides movement and transcends the moment. Body and sound merge in a reflection on identity, connection and transformation. A celebration of the universal power of music and dance as forms of listening, memory and resistance.
