4 October 1849.
Edgar Allan Poe is found on the streets of Baltimore, delirious, disoriented, wearing clothes that are not his own. He is unable to explain where he had been for the previous five days. Hours later, he dies. The mystery has never been solved.
Between Richmond and Baltimore, during those five missing days, a void opens up that spans almost two centuries of speculation, theories and shadows.
Years later, an obsessive detective decides to reopen the case. What begins as a historical investigation quickly turns into a disturbing descent into Poe’s universe. As she gathers contradictory testimonies and fragments of memory, the boundary between reality and fiction begins to blur. Characters straight out of his stories seem to take on a life of their own. Voices emerge where they ought not to exist. And the further the investigation progresses, the more a question grows that is impossible to ignore:
Who killed Edgar Allan Poe?
Was he the victim of an unsolved crime? Or was he ultimately consumed by the fear, madness and horrors he created throughout his own work?
Blending psychological thriller, physical theatre and immersive settings, the show transforms the stage into an unsettling labyrinth where nothing is entirely real — and where the audience is drawn into the mind of one of the most mysterious writers of all time.
