Description

As part of the Oceanic Sense of Life cycle, organised by the European Music Centre, this concert offers a poetic, philosophical and musical journey exploring water as humanity’s living memory, a unifying force between peoples, and a metaphor for the inner movement of being.
In a dialogue between the Baroque and modernity, Georg Philipp Telemann’s famous Wassermusik evokes the currents, tides and seascapes of Europe, performed by the Divino Sospiro ensemble under the baton of Massimo Mazzeo.
In contrast, pianist Raúl da Costa will perform works from the 20th and 21st centuries linked to the idea of inner resonance, the vastness of the ocean and sensory memory, building a bridge between musical heritage, contemporary consciousness and listening to the world.
The project forms part of CEM’s holistic vision, which places music at the heart of the major cultural, human and environmental issues of our time.
