Description

Ten years of war between two civilizations: Greeks and Trojans. A romantic meeting between Helen and Paris leads to the fall of Troy, burned to the ground after ten years at war. The Greeks demand the death of Astyanax, son of Hector and Andromache. Hecuba is taken prisoner. It’s a well-known story. “Between myths, lost loves, rewritings by historians, what still draws us to Troianas (Troades)? And to Seneca? When Russia bombed Kiev on 24 February, the day that started the war, although there were other conflicts (so many, old and recent), this one, on our doorstep, reminded us of the possibility that we could experience a third world war, and of everything that would entail. The shortage of gas, the winter, the threat, the bomb. Of the love for the bomb, as Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove would say. War is not the wonder. What we are interested in is the barbaric, violent act, and its root. With Seneca, we can again question the place to which we relegate the Other, that unknown.”
