To mark the 30th anniversary of the German playwright’s death, we have decided to create a show that is a whirlwind tour of Heiner Müller’s universe.
Fragments of his poetry and theatre will animate bodies, spaces, objects, masks and even puppets. Aristocrats and dictators, soldiers, lovers, the living and the dead engage in dialogue with major figures from European mythology and culture, within an East-West tension that H.M. so skilfully captured.
Vidro Pantera is a show made of shards, of fragments of text – on this jagged, kaleidoscopic path we eventually discover a Müller who is simultaneously author and actor in the dramas he wrote and lived.
BIO
Teatro de Ferro was founded in 1999. The company’s work has been developed in the field of theatre using puppets and objects. They conceive their practice as a form of research in which the puppet has taken on a foundational role, in all its possible hybrid forms. The relationship between the performer’s body and the manipulated object, and the involvement of each audience member in the construction of this relationship, are themes that run through TdF’s artistic practice.
Founded in 2006, Alma d’Arame operates in the Alentejo region, particularly in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo. They believe fervently in the essence that underpins this project: to breathe life into the wire puppets. As such, they aim to contribute to the promotion and democratisation of access to the performing arts, with a particular focus on puppet theatre. Their shows seek to introduce audiences of all ages to the different forms and approaches of puppet and object theatre, ranging from traditional techniques to more modern and technological methods. Their work is characterised by creation, programming, training and creative collaboration with local, national and international organisations.
