A conversation between CATARINA MOLDER and ANTÓNIO CHAGAS ROSA

Video

During a rehearsal break, the soprano and artistic directos for O Homem Dos Sonhos and the play composer gathered to exchange ideas about this São Luiz premiere. The Mário de Sá-Carneiro’s tale adaptation has brought us on a long imagined journey, here unveiled throughout a conversation about this 7 parts opera, which is a reflection on the human condition and the thin line separating sanity and madness. A mysterious and elegant man manages to reach supreme happiness, by transcending the barrier of dream and overcoming the fastidious life’s routine, living everything he ever dreamt of: to travel to countries of new and indescribable colors, where the gas one breathes is made out of music, where there are more than two genders, where the soul is visible and the body isn’t… and an interlocutor that yearns for him, that listen to and fears him. O Homem Dos Sonhos invites us to a game of permanent tension between the alter-egos, of tortuous bigamous relations, of attraction and repulse, seduction and destruction, manipulation and obsession. In short, the eternal human dissatisfaction and the will to transcend.
