Description

FIT (IN) is a performance about finding and searching for a self-identity inside a collective frame. Inspired by and dedicated to a teenage audience, it unfolds issues between the inside and the outside, the self and the other, meeting and conflict and the sudden change of circumstances in all this. The actor João Brito and the dancer Yola Pinto try to find, by means of  their reflexion, their own internal time as well as the time both share in counterpoint with the external velocities forced upon us all daily. Is it possible, then, to live in a world where our own time exists beyond the contours of our own skin?

Workshops for teachers

open to university students, mediators, entertainers, teachers, school staff

Starting with the materials that were used to create the performance FIT(in), Yola Pinto and João de Brito share their doubts, suspicions and small certainties (yet to be confirmed) about what is this encounter thing, what are our own personal times and rhythms and what are these bodies that belong to us, when we cross paths with the other and the world outside. “We try to think through words and movement. Fitting in, yes, but understanding that the beauty of existing and growing up also seems to lie on our differences”, they say. A moment to think together with those who watch everyday the meeting and conflict of speeds in younger people, allowing the adults to have the ability to include themselves, not only as observers, but also as generating and mediating pieces of the pictures that arise around them. This is a practical workshop followed by an open conversation. The use of comfortable clothes is advised.
