The Germany’s mask-theatre virtuosos return to FIMFA with one of its most internationally successful shows, Hotel Paradiso! Unmissable!
The road to heaven leads through hell.

Strange things happen at Hotel Paradiso, a time-honoured mountain resort kept alive with some difficulty by an old lady and her family. While a mineral spring promises relief from physical and mental pain and the hotel proudly boasts four stars, dark clouds are nevertheless gathering in the bright sky. The son dreams of his great love while fighting his sister in his effort to gain control of the hotel. Meanwhile, the maid is in the habit of stealing the hotel guests’ valuables, and the cook chops up much more than just pork…
A first corpse turns up causing all the hotel’s staff and guests to get mixed up in a turmoil of fatal events. Dark abysses open up between the dizzy heights, threatening to devour all of the protagonists. The hotel’s decline seems to be inevitable, since corpses are always bad for business…

This is a dramatic nightmare steeped in black humour with a hint of melancholy, the most vicious and mysterious play hitherto staged by Familie Flöz.

“★★★★★ Every now and then a show scoops you up from the start, whisks you along on a roller coaster ride and desposits you at the end of the track, gasping for breath, wanting to do it all again. This is one of those.”

-The Edinburgh Evening News

“At the end of a performance one could swear that the actors had spoken, laughed and cried. A fascinating experiment in theater that is executed with incredible body control. (…) One of the most peculiar theatre project of our times. (…) Familie Flöz tells stories with a humor, a charm and a furor that seems to be addictive.”

-Süddeutsche Zeitung

“Wordless and yet somehow so expressive, full of yearning and yet also filled with joy; this is splendid and immensely skillful character comedy.”

-The Guardian

“The public squeals with enthusiasm, people stomp their feet and, when it is all over, they stand on their chairs as if thanking the performers for the gift they have just received. Theater can be magnificent.”

-Berliner Zeitung

“This is real treat!” -The Stage

“Non stop laughter. It’s an unforgettable show.” -La Republica, Italy

BIO

Familie Flöz is an international pool of theater makers, actors, musicians, dancers, directors, mask-, light-, set and costume designers, dramatic advisors and other good souls from ten nations.

It is a moving yet bizarre family that apparently rose up from the dark womb of the earth through a long shaft to reach daylight for the very first time. It was this very image that put Familie Flöz on the map of international theater in 1996. Behind this metaphor is also the philosophy of an entirely distinct working method of this ever-changing group of theater makers.

Each play is developed in a collective working process and awakens a new universe inhabited by characters and stories that cleared their path from obscurity to light.

Through constant rediscovery of century-old disciplines such as acting, mask theater, dance, clownery, acrobatics, magic and improvisation, Familie Flöz creates theater experiences of a unique poetry.

Since 2001, Berlin is the base of Familie Flöz.

At FIMFA they presented Hotel Paradiso in 2009 and they made the oppening of FIMFA in 2017, with Teatro Delusio.
