Description

After a first experience working from an operatic work, António Cabrita and São Castro choose music again to be the primary driver of the choreographic act. They say that it was “the complexity of the structure, the boldness, the contrasts, the poetics, the logic of the composition exposed by an irascible and profoundly deaf man who designated the choice of Ludwig van Beethoven’s The Late String Quartets as a starting point for Last. A choice that can immediately transform what seems simple into a demanding and risky task. You listen to the music, create the dance. In parallel, the music and the body, extolling this eternal and inevitable relationship, maintaining the individualities. Last  contains within itself the polarity between end and continuation. Last feminine or masculine; Last as a verbal form of something that lasts. When we are celebrating almost 200 years since the loss of Beethoven, his work proves to be still alive by reliving its content from a gone contemporary era, now in a different present.
