Description

The teatro meia volta e depois à esquerda quando eu disser set out to reflect on the concept of work and the contemporary forms it takes, structuring, throughout 2025, various moments of research and encounters with thinkers, researchers and other workers from different fields, which culminated in the creation of the show Empregos Modernos (Modern Jobs).
Between February and March 2025, they held a series of talks entitled Liberating work, liberating ourselves from work at Casa do Comum (in Lisbon), coordinated by sociologist José Soeiro, exploring different aspects of the topic. In addition, they also had the opportunity to talk to users and technicians from Cidade das Profissões, in Cascais, about their experiences.
Based on this research, they invited playwright Chris Thorpe to write the script for the show, which was translated into Portuguese by Joana Frazão.
This publication is therefore a record of the research and creative process, including a preface by José Soeiro, a report on the conversations produced by sociologist Joana Marques, and the script of the show in English and Portuguese.
