Description

EUROPEANDO: QUADROS PARA UM CONTINENTE is a diptych for two singers and orchestra by Sara Ross, commissioned by the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra. It stems from two distinct creative moments: the first, Europa — Metamorfoses de amor (2023), based on a text by Alexandre Honrado, revisits the myth of Zeus and Europa to explore the relationships between memory, violence and power; the second, written in 2026 based on texts by Tiago Schwäbl, takes us on a journey through a succession of songs and images in constant transformation.

Between myth and everyday life, the past and the imagination, observation and desire, the work maps out an unstable landscape, made up of approaches, detours and returns. At times playful, at times caustic, a gaze traverses these different places, inventing paths and opening passages between possible worlds.
