Description

What can sacrifice mean today? Can sacrifice be seen as a specific and poetic act, an everyday event that happens in everyone’s life? Six performers and a musician come together in this production for a collaboration with choreographer and dancer Hooman Sharifi. Inspired by Iranian poetry, the Farsi language, and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Sharifi uses the sound of the tambura, an ancient Iranian instrument played live by Arash Moradi, in creating a direct, specific and unpretentious collective movement. This movement, in which each performer has a place of their own and performs their own physical sacrifice, reflects the central theme of the show, sacrifice as an everyday act.
