Description

Mil e Uma Noites is a long-term civic and artistic project that, through radio drama, rescues the work of 20th-century Portuguese women from oblivion. Like Xerazade, listeners are lulled into love by a constellation of forgotten, erased, censored and tortured women. Ten listening sessions will take place at the São Luiz Theatre, from themes as distinct as work songs or war letters.

Based on the homonymous book, launched by URAP – União de Resistências Antifascistas Portugueses, the collection of letters from Ivone Dias Lourenço, Maria Luísa Costa Dias, Aida da Conceição Paula, Maria Alda Nogueira, Fernanda Paiva Tomás, as well as testimonies that allow us to glimpse the feminine and feminist resistance to the regime that haunted Portugal between 1933 and 1974.
